Caring for Our VAL Community

  • We all want children back in school.  Every time we make a choice to "live small" right now, we prioritize keeping schools open.
  • Email and call the front office if your child does not feel well or has a positive COVID test.  School contact information is at the bottom of the newsletter and on our website.
  • Be patient with yourself and the rollercoaster of emotions you or your children may be feeling from one day to the next. None of us have lived during a pandemic before.
  • School will look different for everyone this year. But what we need right now, more than ever, is empathy. It’s going to take a village.

Parents can access their child's Trimester 1 report card using their Aeries Parent Portal.  To take advantage of our electronic system, reduce waste, and leverage our human resources differently, the district will no longer mail paper copies of report cards home to parents.  Please note, a paper copy may still be obtained by contacting the front office. Celebrate Safely

Hello Miller Creek Community,

Thank you, CanDo! Foundation for filming this short video, Back to School 2.0. It’s a wonderfully touching reminder of why we do what we do. Please take 2 minutes and enjoy the full screen view. In this season of gratitude, we are so thankful for our long partnership with CanDo! and the legacy of enrichment programs they have made possible for our students with the generous donations from our community.

Almost unbelievably, the holidays are here. Health Department recommendations to safely celebrate and protect yourself and your family include wearing face coverings, keeping a distance, and staying outdoors when possible. The safest way to celebrate Thanksgiving is to celebrate at home with the people you live with. Please review the new CDC Thanksgiving guidance and Holiday considerations and keep doing the things you’re doing to protect yourself and others, even if the people around you are not.

We can not overstate the importance of our entire community’s behavior during this holiday season. The choices people make will directly impact our ability to keep our schools open for learning. As we saw in the video linked above, our students are excited to be back at school for in-person learning and they make it worth our collective best effort to adhere closely to the guidance provided to us by Public Health to prevent transmission of the virus.

We hope that you will find safe ways to connect with your loved ones and we wish everyone a safe and healthy season.

Parent Health Pledge

As a community, we value a safe return to in-person instruction for not only our students but the dedicated staff members who care for our children.  And right now, our actions really matter. Every time we commit to limiting our family's travel and social activities, we help keep our school open.  Every time we limit our child's participation to only two cohorts, we help keep our school open. And every time we refrain from gatherings with mixed households, we help keep our school open. We are in this together, Vallecito, and together we've got this.
