Angel Island Project

January 21, 2021 was Angel Island's Immigration Station's 111th anniversary.  The fourth grade spent last week studying about its history and the experiences the immigrants went through during their detainment.  In class, students participated in a gallery walk where they read different immigrants' stories.  Each student then selected one person who stood out to them and did a more in depth reading and presented his/her story to the class.  The thoughts and feelings students shared regarding the mistreatment of the immigrants demonstrated heart-felt understanding and empathy. Here are some photos of this week's Angel Island activities.

Books needed for projects and assignments do not count as part of the check out allowance.
